An Acute Challenge

Securing qualified caregivers is an acute challenge for A.T.I.L. and its disabled residents. With residential houses in Cupertino and San Jose, California, the high cost of living in the Santa Clara Valley makes it nearly impossible for most caregivers to live near our houses or even commute to our homes from outside the area.
We currently have three caregivers living at our houses, making it possible for them to provide care to our residents. Caregivers who are not living at our homes have access to areas where they can rest between shifts and spend evenings when necessary.
To attract additional caregivers for our residents, we are in the final stages of approval of a project to upgrade and expand our Cupertino house. We will add rooms for residents and rooms for caregivers who need affordable lodging.
Our residents are thrilled to know that we will soon start work to enhance their independent living space and expand areas that will be used to improve the work and lives of their caregivers.
We expect to receive final approval of our project from the City of Cupertino. To limit inconvenience for our residents, the work will be done in phases, with completion projected for the fourth quarter of 2026. The final cost, with contingencies, will be approximately $400,000.00.
Fundraising has not been our focus for several decades, and we are not experts in seeking donations for our nonprofit. We will soon include a donation page on our website for anyone who wishes to support our house remodel and expansion efforts.
